This dissertation defines the genre sharkploitation by analysing key scenes from sharkploitation films and how they represent either schlock or allegory. The first chapter focuses on schlock, using close textual analysis on scenes from Sharktopus, 2-Headed Shark Attack and Sand Sharks. Chapter 2 examines sharkploitation as allegory with brief descriptions of scenes from Dinoshark, Jurassic Shark and Ghost Shark to serve as examples of wider talking points. Chapter 3 examines scenes from Sharknado and Shark Night to see whether sharkploitation is more about allegory or schlock.
